It’s not the departing fall of the leaf, which is fairly dignified and brief, but the humbling drift in the wind that bears all the harrowing grief
Doomed to an unknown, perilous future aimlessly drifting in alien territories, confused and scared, beyond belief, trampled incessantly under merciless feet the fallen leaf sees no hope of relief
Until, perhaps, taking a modest dive off the ridge of the nearest towering reef yet, to the beloved ones left behind what an inglorious blow, what a devastating grief!
